Which price are you looking at?

WickedDesk separates the closing price, premarket and overnight quotes so you can tell which trading session a watchlist price belongs to.

You open your watchlist in the morning. A stock is up. But does that move belong to the last regular session, or to trading that happened afterwards?

You should not have to piece that together yourself. WickedDesk now separates the closing price, premarket and overnight quotes when the relevant data is available. After hours trading has its own label too.

The close remains your reference

The closing price belongs to the end of the regular session. It is still a useful reference the following morning, but it does not tell you what traded after that session ended.

Premarket trading takes place before the regular open. After hours trading follows the regular close. Overnight trading is a separate session again. Not every stock trades in each session, and the corresponding data is not available for every symbol.

What changed in WickedDesk

The regular price remains identifiable in the watchlist. When a quote from another session is available, it appears with its session label. That lets you distinguish a regular session move from one that happened outside it.

Consider a company reporting results after the close. The closing price still reflects trading before the release. A later quote may already reflect the first reaction. Both prices belong to the same stock, but to different moments.

The quote display updates automatically. A new request does not necessarily mean a new trade has taken place. Check the session label and the time shown alongside the quote.

What price will you actually pay?

The last traded price is not a firm offer for your next order. The bid and ask at your broker matter too: what buyers are offering and what sellers are asking. That spread can be wider outside regular trading hours.

The change is meant to answer a simple question directly in your watchlist: what am I looking at?
